In this page i will put the seeds through the machine and we will see how much seed we have saved.

First i turn the machine on then pour the seeds straight into the funnel, they will then fall through the machine, as they do this a fan will blow the husks and any light rubbish into the dust bag that you can see on the left lower side of the machine. Because there's alot of husk in this mixture i ran the seeds through a couple of times.

Because of excessive husk i had to empty the dust bag a couple of times with this experiment, when the bag gets full the machine will start to blow the husk into the seed tub at the bottom and into the air because it has no where else to go so this is normal.

and so what was i left with >

And there it is nice clean seed there is a couple of small bits of pooh in the mix which i handpicked most of that out but my birds didn't even bother with that considering the fact that they pooh in the seed and water anyway and also lay in the food pots, they know what they are eating anyway. besides this is an experiment but saying that its now regular practice for me being on a budget

so what was the result >>

Well the seed i saved was taken to my kitchen to be weighed, because my scales are limited in the weight they can take, i had to separate my seed into 2 tubs.

Above i put my seed into 2 tubs and weighed them separately.

And overall my figures was 1.825 kg / 4 Ibs for the first tub

And 1.338 kg / 2 Ibs 15 oz for the second tub

and in total that's a seed saving of 3.163kg or 6Ibs 15oz and to me that's amazing

that's what i saved in one week......... 25 kg's divide by 3 kg's (that's rounded down for ease)

equals just over 8 . so in summary I've saved a 25 kg sack of seed in 8 weeks costing about £15.00 ( jollyes.co.uk)

52 weeks a year divided by 8 equals 6.5

6.5x £15.00 equals £97.50

In one year with my sized aviary that's a saving of just under £100 WOW!!

If your interested in the mk2 machine contact me i currently build 1-2 a week

price £79.00 for the mk2 cleaner, i dont make the mk1 anymore.

here below is a photo of me cleaning my seed pots on a daily or sometimes every other day basis it stops me going dizzy and running out of breath

in summary>Overall the machine worked very well indeed i did find with excessive husks that there is a little mess but only very minimal, But in normal use its absolutley fantastic. ........................<<<<< back to page 1
